The internet is an amazing place. Tons of information flying back and forth every day, connecting the world like never before in history. It seems like magic, only it is anything but magic. It requires very complicated infrastructure to facilitate this elaborate communication across the entire planet.
Using the web requires Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to connect you to the internet. When you are streaming videos or checking updates on your social media accounts, ISPs make that possible for you. Although these services are very reliable today, they are not infallible and sometimes service becomes unavailable. Since Curve Hero is a cloud application that relies on the internet, this can halt an office in their tracks in the rare event that an internet connection is not available.
This is where our new offline functionality shines.
Curve Hero’s scheduler is now available in a read-only capacity whenever you don’t have an internet connection. There are limitations to this:
- You have to have already logged in to Hero before the internet connection becomes unavailable.
- When you browse through your scheduler, the browser remembers the data you’ve looked at so that it can show it again later during an outage. As scheduler data gets updated, the browser also remembers those changes.
- While offline, you’ll be able to see information on the scheduler and in the appointment summary (subject to the limitations already discussed).
- The next time you log in to Curve Hero that data will be “forgotten” by the browser and it will start remembering all over again as you move through the scheduler.
This new functionality will allow you to have access to critical appointment information for patients if your internet connection is not working. Luckily, ISP outages are rare and do not normally last very long these days.
How will you know if this is happening?
Hero will notify you when this feature kicks in. A red “Offline” message will appear in the bottom left corner of the application. If you lose internet connection from your ISP, there will likely be other indications, such as any other web applications not working.
Once your connection is restored, Curve Hero will begin to work as normal again.
We understand that these issues arise and we want to give you an option which lets you continue working as much as possible throughout any sort of interruption to your internet connection.
